Medical Billing Coder - 1348110
Description
Piedmont Mountainside Hospital is located in Jasper, GA approximately 60 miles north of Atlanta.
We are building a pool of interested and qualified candidates in anticipation of potential future staffing needs.
Codes and abstracts inpatient and outpatients accounts using accepted ICD-9 and CPT/HCPC coding guidelines. Codes and abstracts inpatient and observation accounts by the end of the shift according to established productivity standards. Acts as a hospital-wide resource for investigating coding and reimbursement issues, including consulting with physicians on the relationship between documentation and reimbursement, as appropriate. Consulting with the Utilization Review and Admitting Departments on medical necessity issues, as well as investigating and correcting coding errors and/or claim denials of any kind. Acts as hospital-wide resource in investigating coding and reimbursement issues including but no limited to APC inquiries and medical necessity denials. Assists with special projects and/or attend meetings that require input from a coding specialist. Cross-trained for inpatient and outpatient coding. Performs health information management assistance, as needed. Utilizes software applications and department hardware. Operates standard office equipment.
Qualifications
At least three years coding experience with one of the following certification, including CPC, RHIA, RHIT, and CCS. Successful passing of an employment coding examination is required for credentialed and non-credentialed candidates. Experience with 3m Encoder software and STAR abstraction preferred.
